Understanding roast levels

Roast level affects both flavor and body. Here's what to expect from each.

Light

Best for: those that prize delicate flavors and a tea-like feel above intensity.

Light-Medium

Best for: those that enjoy juicy acidity and gently caramelized sugars.

Medium

Best for: those that enjoy caramelized sugars and a smooth cup.

Medium-Dark

Best for: those looking for classic coffee flavors with a kiss of roast.

Dark

Best for: those that love intense, smoky flavor and a full body above all else.

Trade Tip

Roasters don’t always agree on roast level — one roaster’s dark might look the same as another’s medium. We taste and assign every coffee our own roast level, so your matches stay consistent no matter who roasted them.

    PERC kills it

Always happy to get a bag from PERC. This one is wonderfully smooth. Hits on all it's tasting notes so well, even my non-coffee drinker partner could pick them up.

    Always delivering

I'm a fan of nearly every offering Perc has and this is no exception. The roasting is extremely uniform and it probably helps to highlight the promised fruity notes. As with most light roasts, this tastes better with some resting time.

    Delicious!

The berry and vanilla notes are very noticeable for espresso. Did have to grind a lot finer and up powder quantity, but dialed in and delicious!
