Understanding roast levels

Roast level affects both flavor and body. Here's what to expect from each.

Light

Best for: those that prize delicate flavors and a tea-like feel above intensity.

Light-Medium

Best for: those that enjoy juicy acidity and gently caramelized sugars.

Medium

Best for: those that enjoy balance and classic flavors like cocoa and nuts.

Medium-Dark

Best for: those looking for classic coffee flavors with a kiss of roast.

Dark

Best for: those that love intense, smoky flavor and a full body above all else.

Trade Tip

Roasters don’t always agree on roast level — one roaster’s dark might look the same as another’s medium. We taste and assign every coffee our own roast level, so your matches stay consistent no matter who roasted them.

    I really like this

This was a bold rich flavor profile with a nice balance of chocolate, nuts, and sweet. It was great in an oat milk latte and awesome in an aero press. My favorite beans I've gotten in quite some time.

    Great flavor!

Even before opening the bag, Brazil Fazenda Recreio captured my attention. Loved the smooth and fruity flavor and might not wait until tomorrow morning to brew again!

    One Sip and You’re Hooked!

This is the coffee you want in your cup while you have a slow and cozy morning. It’s so delicious and versatile. I drink it hot and black, while my husband drinks it iced with milk. Both ways taste clean and flavorful. I definitely will be ordering this again.
