Little Waves take this one just a smidge darker than their usual and bring out a big body with notes of chocolate and molasses.

Understanding roast levels

Roast level affects both flavor and body. Here's what to expect from each.

Light

Best for: those that prize delicate flavors and a tea-like feel above intensity.

Light-Medium

Best for: those that enjoy juicy acidity and gently caramelized sugars.

Medium

Best for: those that enjoy caramelized sugars and a smooth cup.

Medium-Dark

Best for: those looking for classic coffee flavors with a kiss of roast.

Dark

Best for: those that love intense, smoky flavor and a full body above all else.

Trade Tip

Roasters don’t always agree on roast level — one roaster’s dark might look the same as another’s medium. We taste and assign every coffee our own roast level, so your matches stay consistent no matter who roasted them.

    Great classic coffee

On the darker side but no burnt notes at all.

This should be called "Hotel Room Blend" - yuck!

My wife and I have sampled dozens of coffees from Trade's hand-picked blends and roasters, all as whole bean espresso - all freshly roasted, including Royal 7. However, this ranks as the single worst tasting coffee we have had recommended for us. We both seriously disliked it and equated it to what we joke about as "hotel room coffee".

We really wish we could get a replacement of another type immediately, as this also caused us to "get the Tums"!
