Understanding roast levels

Roast level affects both flavor and body. Here's what to expect from each.

Light

Best for: those that prize delicate flavors and a tea-like feel above intensity.

Light-Medium

Best for: those that enjoy juicy acidity and gently caramelized sugars.

Medium

Best for: those that enjoy caramelized sugars and a smooth cup.

Medium-Dark

Best for: those looking for classic coffee flavors with a kiss of roast.

Dark

Best for: those that love intense, smoky flavor and a full body above all else.

Trade Tip

Roasters don’t always agree on roast level — one roaster’s dark might look the same as another’s medium. We taste and assign every coffee our own roast level, so your matches stay consistent no matter who roasted them.

    Nice balanced roast

Love this medium roast - not too light; A good strong kick to start the day. Still smooth for late afternoon.

Plan to get more of this one.

    Stunning

This coffee is something I crave every morning. I've tried about 5 different blends from various locations while always coming back to this! Smooth and nutty with a hint of chocolate but not overbearing. I recognize that I do like small hints of chocolate but more nutty then everything with a strong hatred (yes hatred) of citrus and floral notes. THIS IS PERFECT! I kind grind manually anywhere from 17-23 which is the prefect range.

    I love Bonnie!

Was tempted to just get these beans again because they were so, so yummy-I looked forward to my morning coffee more than usual this month. Gonna try another roaster and then order these again next month just so I can yearn for Bonnie girl!
