Understanding roast levels

Roast level affects both flavor and body. Here's what to expect from each.

Light

Best for: those that prize delicate flavors and a tea-like feel above intensity.

Light-Medium

Best for: those that enjoy juicy acidity and gently caramelized sugars.

Medium

Best for: those that enjoy balance and classic flavors like cocoa and nuts.

Medium-Dark

Best for: those looking for classic coffee flavors with a kiss of roast.

Dark

Best for: those that love intense, smoky flavor and a full body above all else.

Trade Tip

Roasters don’t always agree on roast level — one roaster’s dark might look the same as another’s medium. We taste and assign every coffee our own roast level, so your matches stay consistent no matter who roasted them.

    Solid Coffee

These beans provide a great, classic-tasting cup of coffee every time. It is a roast that a go back to frequently when I want something that I know is going to scratch the itch for good coffee. Highly recommended.

Chocolate peanut butter aroma, and nice deep medium-dark taste. Was also very nice in cortados

    Very good cup

Chocolatey, maybe a bit of roasted nuttiness. Very good, solid, comforting cup. Low acid, very smooth, but not without complexity.
