Edwin Enrique Noreña - Smoothie

Funky & Fruity

There’s no one better at funky processing than Edwin Noreña. In the past, we’ve brought you his double anaerobic fermentations and his co-fermentations with hops and watermelon.

For this one, affectionately called Smoothie, he has fermented his excellent coffee with purple passion fruit and banana and dried it as a honey process. You'll taste all that tropical fruit, plus notes of raspberry and cinnamon sugar.

Understanding roast levels

Roast level affects both flavor and body. Here's what to expect from each.

Light

Best for: those that prize delicate flavors and a tea-like feel above intensity.

Light-Medium

Best for: those that enjoy juicy acidity and gently caramelized sugars.

Medium

Best for: those that enjoy balance and classic flavors like cocoa and nuts.

Medium-Dark

Best for: those looking for classic coffee flavors with a kiss of roast.

Dark

Best for: those that love intense, smoky flavor and a full body above all else.

Trade Tip

Roasters don’t always agree on roast level — one roaster’s dark might look the same as another’s medium. We taste and assign every coffee our own roast level, so your matches stay consistent no matter who roasted them.
